Activities

As well as writing stories and translating, I also like to get out into the community and have experience in:

• English storytelling and book-readings - using my own pictures and books, and other books. I can perform at schools, book shops, cafes, libraries or halls.
• English narration of CDs and DVDs
• English narration concerts in collaboration with musicians

• Presentations, lectures and workshops on various themes, including presentations on “Using picture books in the classroom” (for teachers of English) and “Reading picture books in English to children” (for parents and teachers) and creative workshops and events using stories (for children)
• Special events for children (Christmas, Halloween, Easter, summer day camps etc.)

Examples of some of my activities:

Narration concert using projected pictures and music at the All Japan High School Speech Contest held at the National Olympics Memorial Youth Center in Tokyo.

Presentations for teachers on using picture books to teach English at the ETJ (English Teachers in Japan), JALT (Japanese Association of Language Teachers) conferences and meetings throughout Japan and at the mpi Phonics Kids English Tour 2015 and 2106 held in Tokyo, Osaka, Nagoya and Fukuoka. Received the “Best of JALT 2014 Award” for a presentation about using picture books and storytelling to teach all age groups.

A full-page article featuring Lily and the Moon (co-authored with Mari Nakamura) appeared in the 17th October 2013 edition of the Asahi Shougakusei Newspaper.
